KMichelle88 11 Posted November 26, 2016 Did any one else gain weight right after surgery? While recovering? Sent from my LGLS991 using the BariatricPal App
suzzzzz 1,005 Posted November 26, 2016 It is common. You were pumped full of liquids in hospital. Your body is recovering and healing. Stick to your plan, even with gains and stalls, and the weight will come off.
Dairymary 533 Posted November 26, 2016 Yep. They pump you full of IV fluids and you have excess fluids held up in all your surgical swelling. The excess weight means you're well hydrated, which is a good thing. I came home 15 pounds heavier than I went in. Totally normal and to be expected. It's very frustrating for me that doctors don't inform their patients of this. It would ease a lot of anxiety.

It makes sense now. So about how long was it until your body kinda regulated and went back to normal? And seriously thank you. And they really should tell patients ciz i can be the only one who freaked out a little haha Sent from my LGLS991 using the BariatricPal App
breakinout 57 Posted November 26, 2016 Yes. I gained 16 lbs! You are full of liquids, Gas and not to mention inflammation. My doctor warned me of this and told me I would loose it within 2 weeks. And that's what happened, by the 14th day, I had lost all of it. This is normal. Sent from my SM-J700T1 using the BariatricPal App
