Boudala 27 Posted November 26, 2016 So I've noticed a drastic difference in diet plans from surgeon to surgeon based on what I read here. I was sleeved on 10/6 and I lost 20 lbs the first month but in the second month I have only lost about 5 lbs. I know it's supposed to slow down but I didn't think it would slow this far down and so quick. I'm having an insanely hard time with the chewable Vitamins and being able to keep them down. So my energy level is terrible. My starting weight was 240, pre-op weight was 236, and I currently weigh 209. Any thoughts or insights? Brandeis 401 Posted November 26, 2016 Maybe it'd help if you talked a bit about what your diet plan is...? And also exercise! Exercise by itself isn't going to help you burn the calories, but it helps get your metabolism moving and that will push weight loss along for sure.

Gotcha.... so initially the first 48 hours was clear liquid Proteins only, then for the first two weeks was liquids. Then soft foods... but in my docs soft foods... it includes fish and meat and eggs cooked properly. cheese... yogurt. From week 4-8 is semi soft foods but it's actually pretty much the same diet as the soft foods. I was told I pretty much couldn't do anything other than walking but then I feel that because I am self pay I got very little guidance on that part and they don't really care to elaborate nor respond after they've been paid. Brandeis 401 Posted November 26, 2016 Hmm. It's a lot like my diet, only some minor difs! I have full liquids for a week after heading home, followed by 2 weeks purees [so that sounds like your soft foods honestly, except i'm allowed to do cooked fish & boiled chicken too!] and then I'll move onto soft foods, which for me is anything but raw veggies and red meat, pretty much. Is there a support group in your area? I strongly suggest looking into it. There's one run by the bariatric program I went through, and it's very helpful about reasonable goals, and figuring out what's 'normal' and what's not... Boudala 27 Posted November 26, 2016 Oh the other thing that's weird but actually was how I was pre surgery as well. When I hit a stall if I eat a tiny amount of carbs the next day I'm down 2 lbs. so before surgery whenever I did a low carb or no carb diet my body just never responded ... it did the first few times I tried it but then nope. So I don't know if all that resets after surgery. My Bariatric surgeon has zero suggestions for this in fact they tell me to look for it on my own and then find a therapist on my own. Extremely glad I had the surgery so I don't want to sound ungrateful. I just am needing for lack of better words... friends who know what this is. Ssze1109 163 Posted November 26, 2016 Boudala- I am self pay too so I understand what you are talking about. We missed out on nutritionist , counseling, and the many classes and information. My insurance wouldn't cover any bariatric surgery. I think they are actually doing their clients a disservice by not covering it. I can't tolerate the Vitamins either. I am only able to get 1 in a day. They make me feel like I am going to puke! Try drinking more fluids and see if your energy level improves. I went back to work after 10 days and some days I just want to come home and nap. My Dr said you can put the Vitamin in a blender with yogurt or Protein powder, strawberries, blueberries bananas and spinach. Maybe try that? Sometimes I have to eat a sf Popsicle right after the Vitamin to kill the taste etc.. Hope you get your energy back. Maybe you are trying to do too much or your Vitamin D or B12 is low? Boudala 27 Posted November 26, 2016 You know I think I may call my PCP and get all my levels checked. Again something the surgeon did not do post op. My insurance was the same they wouldn't cover anything at all Bariatric related.
