Total Rant.... Watch out for the Big Girls....

Recommended Posts

Soooo yesterday I met a few of my Fiancée family for the first time. Okay cool but of course the first thing said is..... Marvin Love's those Big Girls (No he only loves me.... He's ex was petite rolls eyes)! Followed by she's Beautiful tho.... What type of Sh!t is that! I'm telling you I'm so tired of hearing this and if I had a dollar for every time a person says this to me I would be rich! Anyway as usual I didn't reply to the ignorant statement but in my head I just wondered what will people say about me once the weight is gone? It's seems to me that weight is the ultimate issue with ppl, and there were so many ppl around I wonder did everyone get a grand announcement when they arrived? Such as ( Oh look here uncle John with his new wife she's missing all her teeth or wow Carla boyfriends here I noticed he still has bad acme...) but no they only see the Big Girl, I can never go unnoticed when I enter the room.

5'5 280 and high heels....... Of course I make heads turn! Just wait I hope things play and I get my January surgery date -_-

When I was back in college, I was working out at a local gym. There was an older woman on the treadmill next to me. We started talking, and I forget what we had been talking about ...but she looked at me and said "well, you are big but you have such beautiful skin." SERIOUSLY?

Smh I lived my whole life feeling as tho I had to represent for the "big girls"; everything they doubted a big girl could do my mission was to prove them wrong. Don't let them get to you. Confidence kills at any size

I'm sure Marvin is charming and knows how to behave like a human being. It's just his family....

It can play out in different ways. When you lose the weight, they won't notice you or they'll make a big fuss and say more stupid things. At least the stupid things will be a new script. If they take the low, ignorant road next year, you can have fun planting wicked seeds. Whisper to one of them, "Did you ask Uncle John's wife if she plans on getting false teeth so that she can enjoy the turkey?" "Does Carla's boyfriend see a dermatologist?"

Just kidding, but you can have some fun thinking of ways to start trouble amongst them. At the same time, imagine them naked.

At least you didn't have Carla's boyfriend's problem. And you got revenge now, referring to the woman's age.

Well now people talk about how big my boobs are and how small my waist is. Or other things about my body. And these are strangers that have no idea how large I used to be.

Losing weight is trading one set of problems for a different set of problems.

If you stand out to people like I do, you always will, and they will always find something to say. Some people just attract attention. I do, I don't care what people think anymore though. They are going to talk no matter what, might as well give them something good to talk about.

Sounds like you carry yourself well....and they are hating because even though RIGHT NOW they're smaller than you are, they don't have that special something to pull off the things you wear. They really gonna hate when they see those pounds fall off and you up your swag even more!

I feel this on a spiritual level. The fan favorite over here is, "You are so beautiful for a big girl!" I'm over here like That's swell give me a compliment and take half of it away. Thank you so much for gracing this "Big girl" with your attention. People are so careless with their words. But as it was said before confidence is the sexiest asset a women can have. Brush your shoulders off.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
