Do all lightweights (BMI<35) avoid loose skin?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am 24 with a BMI of 34 currently and hoping to be 30 by surgery date. Does the skin of those who had VSG with lower BMIs usually bounce back?

Thank you for your responses.

@@Kila Rass

welcome, welcome, welcome

age is a variable of how quickly/ or if your skin does "bounce" back

elasticity of your body/skin - you shouldn't have that much loose skin

having a lower bmi also means you have less weight/skin to loose

you are 24!!! - a youngun - don't worry about some "possible" loose skin

worrying causes wrinkles LOL

i am/was a youngun like you

thirty nine (39) years ago!!!

you sound and "look" llike a pre-newbie

you have a lot to look forward to

hope DOS is sooner than later

good luck

kathy

I've had three large weight losss from about that BMI of 35 40 and 60 pounds and ages 31, 38,and 52 respectively and I have bad sun damage from teens. I only noticed any kind of skin laxity loss the last weight loss So I think age is a large factor and you will be OK.

@@proudgrammy thank you for the reassurance and welcome.

My research has just begun and I am planning to have surgery in a few months. I wish it was sooner but my passport is still too new to enter another country.

Thank you for your responses. ????

My pre-surgery BMI was 37.1

I have now lost most of my excess weight.

I have hardly any loose skin, mainly in my upper arms, but they are not too bad.

I am much older than you are, so as our lovely Kathy mentioned, at your age and with low BMI, your results could be really good! So, please don't worry too much! :)

Good luck with your research and future surgery!

NOPE!

There are a lot of factors that go into this but my BMI has never been higher than 37. The first time I lost all the weight I was at 35 and went down to BMI 24, I was 28. I don't have overlapping loose skin but my body definitely did not look like it used to. I had stretch marks, flabby upper arms, and saggy stomach/boobs.

A lot of this is just based on your own skin elasticity but factors like age can also come in to play. Sometimes it's just genetic
