I am almost 8 weeks post op, so this was my first Thanksgiving after surgery. I ate enough to be full over the course of an hour and I was satisfied. I just kept looking at everyone like how can you eat all that! ???? ???? ???? ???? How was everyone else's first Thanksgiving after surgery? post-293771-14800499248532_thumb.jpg

I am a secret sleever so I filled my plate up like Normal and ate at a slow pace until nobody noticed I'd barely eaten anything. I did eat carbs today. I hope it doesn't throw me into a stall but I thought, the hell with it. I've done so good and will continue to do good. I'm going to eat some of the broccoli and cheddar rice and some hash brown casserole. It was a measly couple bites of each but I do feel a bit guilty. I skipped dessert as I had NO ROOM! I planned on eating a sliver of pumpkin pie but didn't. My niece is due to get sleeved and RNY on the 8th of Dec. so today was the first day of her liquid diet! I felt really bad for her. She is around 360+ pounds and was literally starving looking at the tables and tables of food and cakes and pies. Poor thing.

@@gustavio Awwwwwww poor thing! I bet she was miserable, but it's all worth it. It's just food and we've eaten like this every year we've been living. And there is nothing to feel guilty about. We can have regular food but it's all about portion and getting the Protein in. To not indulge in a little Thanksgiving the real way is inhumane! ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? ????

We're traveling this holiday so we ended up at a restaurant. I had a poached shrimp with spicy cocktail sauce, about a half-ounce of salmon with dill sauce, two ounces of roast chicken, a few brussels sprouts and a few bites of mashers. Desserts never really interested me, so that wasn't an issue (the place is famous for its warm butter cake, and the rest of the family split one of those) although I gazed longingly at the bread basket. I feel pretty good about how it went. I'm feeling a little hungry right now (dinner was early) so I'm gnawing on some Jerky.

Im also 8wks out but i spent today in the hospital. Ive done great thus far but have had alot of problems with my bowels. They found out that i have adhedsions that have wrapped around a large part of my bowel making it very difficult for me to have a bowel movement. 8wks out only 3 movements so you can imagine how i feel. I cant get all my fluids down or Protein because i always feel full and bloated. So to the operating room at 730am. Hopefully this will make me feel much better. I wish i couldve had some thanksgiving dinner with my family. Even if it was just an ounce of potatoes. Enjoy the weekend guys and ill update you all tomorrow. Keep me in your prayers

I did ok but could have done better. I had 2 bites each of turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes and 2 pieces of Pasta from the mac and cheese. I should have skipped the mac and cheese but what's done is done.

I had the best thanksgiving because I did not stuff myself then feel miserable! I actually focused on the family this year and not food! I ate some stuffed ham and broccoli casserole. I had a cookie for desert. I am just over 3 months out.

I made it the whole meal for my family but ended up eating a couple ounces of turkey, a few bites of mashed potatoes, a few bites of stuffing and a couple of roasted carrots. I had one bite of a crescent roll, but didn't over do any part of the meal.

I made a crustless pumpkin pie for myself and it was delicious!

I'm almost six weeks out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
