Valentine gift Feb16

Recommended Posts

I am a 54 yr old Grandmother of 2 active girls. I have problems keeping up with them with my 5'2" body weighing in at 231 lbs. Once I heard about the lapband, I knew that this may be my solution I was looking for. I found out that several ppl that I work with had already gone thru the procedure and some had gastric bypass. After talking to them and seeing great results, I decided to do the lapband. My surgery was Feb 16, 2007. I have been in several times for fills until the right one was for me. I still think that I need more. I don't have a lot of restriction. As of todays date, Sep 13, 2007, I have lost 16 pounds. I was down 22 lbs. I keep fluctuating up and down. My surgery was done by Dr. Wade Barker in Dallas Tx, who I recommend highly. He is not only a very good and respected lapband doctor, he is also very personable and good looking....lol. :car: The doctor that I have gone to for my fills is Dr Fred Maese. Although I am changing over to Dr Richard Carter because he is 10 minutes from me vs 1 hour for Dr Maese. I am in need of a support group. I know I have to be doing something wrong. My body is not losing and I seem to be slowly putting the lbs back on. I am trying to not get too depressed over this. I have to go see Dr Carter and get my fill adjusted. Any suggestions would be helpful. Looking forward to being in the forum.

Welcome Monet.

I can't help you with the fill problems (not banded yet).

You have come to the right place for support though. Everyone here is very suportive and always willing to help. Try posting over on the lapband support board, maybe someone will see you. I wish you the best of luck finding proper restriction.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
