Happy thanksgiving all!

Now I know my post might upset or hurt some of you alls feelings but I can no longer keep reading these Thanksgiving post or even the 'Why did i do this' or 'I hate that i did this' crap but I seriously think its time for someone to say something. Because you know why you got the surgery. And I know that its Thanksgiving but you all don't need to be so damn dramatic about it.

Now I know that we all have some type or form of food addiction. Me personally I love nothing but Snacks. I am a very picky eater so I have never been that big into "real" food. But when I was younger I would hored Snacks on my room. So i know what its like to love and use food/snacks as a crutch for whats going on in our lives. Its even harder being a teen and not having a true locas of control when it comes to eating.

My thing is that I think some people are over reacting for nothing because they need attention.

I got my surgery on the 14th of this month and It went super easy I didn't have any pain, only discomfort, I have went down to 294lbs(from 323lbs), and I have yet to have head hunger. Because I look to the future of things that I can and will eat.

Now I know that not everyone is going to be like me but I think that as a person who has never had a major surgery or even a child I have done a lot better that a lot of the adults on here.

A lot of you say why did I do this....that question gets on my nerves because y'all know why you did this. We all took however many months doing this pre-op diet to get to this point because we wanted to feel better and be better people. When you say why did I do this its like you all lose sight of what you want out of this second chance at life.

For the whole I hate that I did this...for what...so that you can eat today you will have a billion Thanksgiving's, birthdays, Christmas's, and any other holidays, but you will only have one body. Its time to get healthy now and take your life by the hornes and be a better you!!!!

And lastly for Thanksgiving, yesterday my dietitian called me saying that it was just a normal day, and that my family should just not eat what ever they want. When I got off the phone with her I was so mad because I think thats selfish, I think that its okay for them to eat their holiday meal because I know that next year I can eat with them. In addion to this I know that my mom is going to her pre-op meeting next week and that she needs to have her last food funeral, I also know that my older brother has Autism and the only thing that he has in this world is his food, his video games, his TV and his computer.

Instead of whining and leaving the room why wouldn't you make some Soup or anything on your list to eat so that you can enjoy your family! My mom made me some Cream of mushroom Soup (with some Turkey broth in it) a little bit of apple sauce and a almond joy Protein shake so that I wouldn't be left out. In addition to that she bought me a turkey for later when i can eat because it's a healthy meat.

I now that it's hard but we can all be great if we just wait it out and remember that we can eat later, let's all just get through this because it's not the worst battle many of us have been in. And if you don't have support make an inviting post or even seek out help form the other because you feel defeated. You can't give up because you ha e already made the step to do this, and to be a better you!

Happy holidays!

I had surgery in the summer, knowing that by the holidays I would be able to eat if I wanted to. What is funny is last year, I had more to eat than this year. I just wasn't in the mood to eat today and I have really been struggling lately with having an appetite.

food is a huge part of the human experience, and Thanksgiving is a whole holiday that is basically just about being a glutton. So I understand why people are all in their feelings about it.

I just skip the posts that people make complaining for the most part, unless I think I had some advice that might help them make it through.

You have to consider the fact your mom made special stuff for you to support you. Most have families of assholes that don't do anything to help support them, and purposely rub in the fact they can't eat and make it as hard as possible on them. So be fortunate you have people that care about you enough to support you. Everyone doesn't have that.

Unfortunately, the thanksgiving holiday is centered around food. Your mother made you something special to make you feel included and that is great. Many folks don't have that kind of support.

The food wasn't important to me because I've lost many loved ones and that weighs heavy on my heart, including both parents so holidays are not the same for me anymore. However I did indulge in a few starches and 2 bites of pumpkin pie. Comfort food. I am 5 mths out and aware of consequences to my weightloss.

Yes I have a great support system, but if I didn't because in actuality we have told some members of our family that we were/will be getting the surgery who don't support us. Yet for that matter have never supported us. In addition to this we don't have a lot of family members that are still alive but we ha e been our own support. I think that I you don't have a support system it time to put on your big boy/girl panties and be your own cheerleader for once. You all came on here to desput what I said when its the truth. We are all adults here and its time to be adults. Why can't those on the liquid diet make their own meal experience great. It makes no sense that you all can come on here and get made when you need to support your own selves now. Its time to get real about food and the fact that you got the surgery so you won't keep doing the same dumb crap. So what your family is eating or they don't support you, often times you came into this world alone and you will die alone. You can be your own person with out them. Why don't you all find a support system on here then. And in actuality Thanksgiving is a time for being greatful for what you've got in life a the media and different businesses just made ads that con us into buying all this crap we don't need.

You can rant all you want but I feel like your rant is poorly timed and unsympathetic to other people.

I'm a strong person. I lost my 170 pounds with basically no support except a few Internet friends. Still I understand that other people have more issues.

At a time when people a struggling during the holidays you are just kicking them while they are down but if it makes you feel better, enjoy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
