sgaddarich 17 Posted November 24, 2016 So today is as we all know is Thanksgiving. As it's just my husband and I, I offered to cook dinner. I did fantastic until I had to make the potato salad. Did a small tasting of it and now I feel like I'm dieing. I had the RNY on 10/24 and was doing fantastic until this week. Now I cant hold anything down other than Water, Protein shakes and my Gummy Vitamins. I'm afraid to even try anything else as I just keep getting sick. My Dr said if this keeps up im going to have to go to the ER. Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions. I don't want to end up back in the hospital. I was even suppose to return to work this week and because of this I had to extend my time off. Any help would be appreciated. shedo82773 1,236 Posted November 25, 2016 I had plenty of problems after my RNY. I had Strictures (kind of like scar tissue) and it got to where I couldn't even hold down Water. If you are able to keep down your fluids and Protein drinks I would kind of just do those things. If it gets to where you can't hold anything down then I would definitely go to the ER. Keep in touch with your DR. I hope everything works out for you. Congratulations on your 26#'s lost. That is great for your 1st month!! KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!! catwoman7 11,220 Posted November 25, 2016 I had strictures as well (two of them). This could potentially be one. If so, it's a really easy fix...
Daenerys Targaryen 109 Posted November 25, 2016 I had my surgery 4 months ago, and today I haven't been able to eat a single bite of food without throwing up. I sometimes have days like this. My dietician says as long as I can get fluids down, just go with it. If I can't get fluids down, then go to an ER. So that is the advice I was given, and it works for me. I have occasional 1-3 day episodes where I can only get in fluids and it is ok. Within a day or two I can usually eat my 3oz of food again. I have learned to just be thankful for good restriction. Today I couldn't enjoy one bite of Thanksgiving food, but I am thankful that the surgery is working so well for me.
