I got sleeved the 9th and felt the same way too! Like I made the biggest mistake of my life.. but it actually gets better and better.. after two weeks I now am prepared for a new life and refocused. The feeling of why I did this in the first place gets stronger and stronger everyday.. stay strong and you will do great.

P.S. We have next Thanksgiving to look forward too!

I just made the entire meal for 15 people and didn't get to eat any of it. So what. I would rather have a lifetime of good health, than 1 meal of overindulgence.

I feel ya. My RNY was 11/14 still on full liquids so I couldn't eat any either. They claim to be supported yet it doesn't help when they say well mashed potatoes and gravy are soft, how bout some sweet potatoes their soft I'm like just stop please....so I went and sat in the living room. I made the huge mistake of watching my husband make spaghetti lastnight and I was dumb and took two scoops and blended it in the blender. I ate it and it went all fine but today I've had a stomach ache so I don't know if it was the ingredients or I just don't feel good. But if you need to talk message me anytime

Armygalbonnie I'm glad u posted because my 19 year old daughter was sleeved on the 14th and I made a small dinner without her favorites but enough for my 27 year old autistic son and me (who will get vsg on December 15th). Even though I made her pureed cream of mushroom Soup and muscle milk with Almond milk and apple sauce she says the same thing! It lessens my guilt of having a final food funeral lol hang in there Xnattio you are about to be even more gorgeous you got this!!! It's crazy that food is our (well mines anyway) drug yet we need it to live!

I feel the same way. I was sleeved last Wed 11/16 and all this week on tv, internet everything was about food and Thanksgiving dinner. I helped my husband make dinner for our family today and it smelled great. I thought I was going to stay out of the dining room, but I didn't. I had my roasted red pepper and Tomato low sodium Soup with everyone, and it actually went well. Now, the day is almost over and I made it! Wish I could do some black Friday shopping, but I am too exhausted and that is okay!!

Two things...1) must break the association of holidays/celebrations with food; focus on your blessings, and the quality of how and with whom you spend that time. 2) Others are free to eat as they wish, that's their perogative, and something you will have to reconcile with if you want to be successful long term. Back when we could still "choose" to stuff ourselves, I don't recall feeling I shouldn't because someone around me may be trying to lose weight.

Lastly, after going through a surgery we should never, ever stuff outselves again, but, by the holidays next year, it will be so much less of a big deal than when you are so fresh post op. So focus on your health, on giving thanks for all that you are gaining in giving the huge feast up, and we can't control what others do, nor should we try, only worry about how we are treating OUR bodies.

The holidays have always been hard for me, went through a divorce about 10 years ago during the holidays. Since then they've been pretty depressing. Can't help but bring up old memories. Now I am a supervisor in a 911 center and usually get stuck working holidays. So while my friends and family are celebrating and being thankful I get to deal with all of the domestics, suicides, car crashes, you name it I'll be dealing with it. Now add on top of that it's my first year with my sleeve and not able to join in the food. Depressing time... I guess I'll just take my meds and get back to work :(

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
