I'm absolutely terrified.... so thank you for posting this!

I go in 12/7..... I've been eyeing a sandwich all day just to sabotage myself because of it

I had some pain. Getting out of bed or a chair is the worst. I got out of bed wrong last night and almost fainted from pain. Look up how to get up after surgery and practice!

Most of my pain has been gas pain in my shoulder. My surgery was 11/22 and I was mostly off painkillers the 3rd day and am completely off them on the 5th day.

I expect to be in a lot of pain. I will take my medication as prescribed and walk then walk some more. I had my gallbladder removed 2 years ago. It was a very painful experience for me. But even knowing this I am looking forward to getting WLS. I know the pain will only last for awhile and that it will be worth it. If I luck out and don't experience a lot of pain that will be awesome. But I'm not letting the fear of being in pain stop me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
