Well I have zero appetite for three days now, so won't be eating really. I have to master the art of arranging food on my plate as to not look weird on mixed company!

I'm having Protein chicken broth for Thanksgiving. I'm staying away from relatives and food this year, since I will have many more to Celebrate than if I never went through with the surgery.

I have to admit that I will be going off plan tomorrow. I will have a spoonful of my mom's sausage and mushroom rice, I will have a broccoli ball (made with stuffing), I will have the tip of a piece of my aunt's buttermilk pie. Of course I will do the bariatric friendly turkey, green Beans with bacon, one of my smoked atomic buffalo turds, a deviled egg and some ham. I will say that this will be the most carbs that I've had since surgery and this lifestyle isn't about deprivation, it is about choices. Tomorrow's Portion Control will be mindful and come Friday I will be doing business as usual.

I don't understand all the angst newly post ops have about Thanksgiving. It's really easy, especially since the main course is major protien source. Turkey, veggies and a bite or 2 of dessert if you'de like. No problem!

Have relatives you don't want to know you had surgery? Load your plate up like normal, and push food around as you talk and take little bites and chew it well. I promise they won't even notice how much you're eating.

Don't complicate it. If you feel you went a bit overboard, no biggie, everyone does. As long as you understand it's Thanksgiving Day, not MONTH. Same with Christmas. Celebrate the day, not the whole month. One day shouldn't completely derail you. And if you think it will, then stick to your program.

Tomorrow is 16 days post op, not sure I should stray from my full liquid diet... was thinking maybe just a spoonful of mashed potatoes.

Turkey, mashed cauliflower, mushroom gravy, green bean casserole, maybe a bite of roll, and sugar free pie. I made pumpkin & cranberry, both SF. We will see how they taste. I will indulge in a dollop of homemade whipped cream. Of course, this will take all day to consume all this food.

Don't push it. If you're on liquids still, there's a reason.

If you can purée the heck out of something and want to drink it, go for it. Use chicken broth as the base, add a little turkey and cheers to you

Seriously. Don't mess with your food progression.

Turkey and green Beans. No fear of eating desert because I made pecan pie and can't have nuts yet, plus not crazy about it. Future ma in law is doing all the cooking except that. They know I had surgery. The very few who do, so nothing but love and support.

Cooking the whole thing...as usual...asked my mother in law to make butter Beans and mac and cheese one year and you would have thought I asked her to make a seven course meal. Mind you she doesn't work...and I do! But that's ok...I got this! This year I am adding Coubillion to my menu. It's a Tomato based fish stew that is served over rice (I'm skipping the rice). Of course I will have ham and turkey too. But I'm such a picky eater, they will never notice I'm not gobbling everything! Y'all have a happy thanksgiving!

I am just over 7 weeks out and got cleared Tuesday to eat mostly anything. I had 2 dinners to go to and had a small plate with a bit of everything except rolls 3 hours apart. At the first dinner I loaded up a full plate and my husband ate most of it. I didn't want to sit there with a tiny plate but I also didn't want to leave a plate full of food. I had turkey (moist dark meat), a bit of GB casserole, a deviled egg, and a couple of bites of cornbread stuffing. The second meal wasn't traditional Tday and I had a bit of chicken, a tiny (maybe 1 tablespoon) serving of rice along with a few more green Beans. The only thing that got me were the Desserts, most of them were sliders and I definitely had a bit more than I should've but that's okay.

Just thinking about how much I ate last year... My total amount for both meals and dessert didn't even come close to what my first plate was in previous years!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
