NSV's that no one talks about?

Recommended Posts

Ok

It seems the that on here there are no taboo's when talking about weight loss

Men discuss the possibility of becoming the next BIG thing in the porn industry and women discuss needing more support in the breast department and so on

However

I have noticed another NSV that seems to have been missed or not suffered by others on here!!!!!

I can now wipe my bum without having to dislocate my shoulder to do it

Wooooo Hooooo

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I never had that issue, but I can report it is easier to scratch certain areas of my body while driving.

Haven't noticed that one quite yet, but I hope to.

One I have noticed: once I get home, I'm not racing to change into a T-shirt and gym shorts because my day-to-day clothes fit comfortably again. It feels like years since I've changed for bed around the time I actually go to bed.

Interesting. I have found that I am the exact opposite on this. I hated wearing stretchy pants and slippers around the house, but since I came home from the hospital, I have been changing in the evening, often before dinner. Of course, I am trying to extend the use of my clothes for as long as possible, so some of them have gotten quite baggy on me. Maybe that is the reason. I hadn't thought about it until you posted.

Here is another one that nobody talks about. Without the padding holding my boys in place I sat on my boys trying to sit down on the toilet. Ouch! Unfortunately this has happened a few times and I've learned cradle them or speak in a voice that only my dog can hear.

OK SK101, you started this....

at 18 months out:

  • Asswiping is much easier actually thinking about not just wearing dark underwear! HA!
  • Always wore clothes too tight but now wear them looser for comfort, never worry about shrinking them in the dryer
  • I fit in all chairs now, even those little booths at the diner, what a relief not to check out the seating before deciding to dine out...
  • My huge 2010 SUV and giant 1999 Pickup truck both now seen really massive whereas before they seemed to shrink every year
  • My fat legs used to keep the boys from getting crushed now always reaching down in public or private and adjusting (hey, I am an old man I can get away with it)
  • I can see my penis when I pee, rather than rely on faith that it was still there.

Ok that is enough TMI for now....

It only gets worse as you get older, trust me.

Well, I don't have "THE BOYS" but my hubby has said I can share some of his NSV'S!!! Because his thighs are so big, they squeeze his BOYS!!! Since he lost 60#'s they are safe now. He also can put his own socks on instead of waiting for me to do it. He can take a shower and use wash clothes instead of a cloth back scrubber. He can get out of the shower without touching the sliding glass doors. His seat belt finally fits him. Life is GREAT!!! More NSV'S coming as he loses more!!!

So many things I, and others, can relate to.

The thing is they all matter.

;)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
