I'm laying in my hospital bed at 2am. Hooked to a pain pump (my new best friend), IV antibiotics, oxygen, leg massagers & a catheter. The abdominal pain is mostly burning, not what I expected, only a 5 out of 10. My throat hurts from the tube and I'm super thirsty, they gave me a mouth swab only.

Tomorrow I have a full day planned. PT will have me walk and I need to take in 60cc per hr of fluids, per the nurse's explinations. Just thought I'd tell what I'm experiencing.

Amanda

Catheter gone. Got my first cup of fluids, I chose ice chips, my mouth is So dry. Pain pump stays all day.

On an awesome side note: my doctors assistant came in and had me moved. The roommate was not Npo or post bariatric surgery. Smelling her Breakfast would've been torture.

The dry sore throat was worse than the surgery pain for me!

Congratulations

Keep up the play by play!! I'm loving it! Pretty sure mine will be 12/14. Maybe I will do a play by play for others too.

Just think, as some of us fight through the turkey and pumpkin pie coma, you will be one step closer to healthy! I'm jealous!

I spent the whole day nauseous. Between hitting my pain button and napping...I walked the hallway and used my incentive spirometry. I am not tolerating Water or ice. Hopefully tomorrow will be better, the nutritionist said day 2 is always better.

Yeah...you have become a winner! Thanks for the information. Did you have a sleeve or a bypass. I am scheduled for surgery on 12/27...anxious and excited in the same breath.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
