All of my incisional pain was tolerable. Only took pain meds once at home.

The incisions don't hurt but I do hurt inside, below the lowest right incision. As my activity level increases, I am getting more frequent and sharp pains. Sometimes it feels like someone is cinching up a corset. I also get spasms in that area. I am 3 weeks post op. The pain has been the worse the past 2 days. I walk often and I'm on my feet at work about 50% of the time. It's just part of the healing. It's tolerable but uncomfortable.

80% of your stomach will be removed and their is trauma. It is secured with 3 rows of staples. The area that is sore is where the stomach was removed and there is a very deep internal stitch.

I think a lot of the pain is from the incisions, but not from the cuts -- the problem is that the doctors stab you through the muscles of your stomach, and as a result you have a lot of muscle damage. The "internal" pain, imo, comes from this. It aches when you bend/twist, since it pulls at muscles that are still working on healing.

For me, incision pain is the worst pain, in this regard. I can't sleep more than ~4 hours in a night without having to adjust position due to the ache. But it's not a stabbing pain, just a lingering, dull throb.

I never really had any pain with the incisions; however, at about 6 weeks post-op, the incision inside my belly button began to ooze this clear Fluid mixed with blood. I ended up having to take an antibiotic for a week, and it cleared right up, and now it is back to smooth sailing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
