lap banded and type 1 diabetic, insulin dependent

Recommended Posts

i am interested in talking with anyone who has had lap band surgery and is a type 1 diabetic. I am a type 1 diabetic and have ainsulin pump. I was banded on 8/16/2007. It has been a real struggle to try and manage my diabetes and the lap band diet especially the the 1st 7 or 10 days after surgery. I had blood sugars of 30s and 40s in the morning and had to bring up sugar by using pancake Syrup. does insulin make you lose weight at a slower pace? I have only lost 10 lbs in almost a month. Also, if you have any good food ideas.

I am not diabetic, but I have heard that insulin does play a large role in your rate of weight loss. I wish I could give you more info, but I don't know much about it. But you can definitely ask your doc about it, i'm sure they will be able to answer your questions.. When you find out let us know! By the way - 10 pounds in a month is GREAT!! I wish I could lose 10 pounds in a month!

Goodluck with everything and keep up the good work!
