Protein Shakes Ugh!

Recommended Posts

Hi all. My dietician now has me doing a Protein Drink a day whether a meal or a snack. I bought Celebrate packets of latte and Cookies and cream thinking they would taste good. Yuck. The only thing I can drink without a gag is the Premier Protein which I know I really shouldn't drink. Any suggestions on great tasting drinks that are comparable in taste to Premier. Thank you in advance.

What is wrong with Premier Protein drinks? They recommended them where I had surgery, because they have 30 grams of Protein. I loved them before surgery but don't like taste after surgery. I use flavorless GENEPRO. I add to my hot coco or tea or broth. I like that I don't have that whey flavor to shake.< /p>

My dietician doesn't care much for premier either, she says it is the top of the line junk Protein meaning it is the best out of the low quality Proteins. But, she says if that is what you can get that it is fine.

nectar is really good, and for plant I like Organ Organic.

Premier Protein was suggested by my bariatric dietician as a good option. Price and availability make it a good option for many I know. I keep the pre made on hand at work and I appreciate the convenience. I use powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and nectar powders at home.

Someone on another blog recommended Syntrax from Bariatric Choice website. I personally love Premier Protein and so did the other person who recommended Syntrax, so maybe you will like it maybe not.. I guess it's all trial and error.

Thanks all. My reason was like previous poster that the Protein isnt quality but since I like the taste I will continue to use it.

I personally use nectar Sweets by Syntrax, they offer so many different flavors. They are easy to mix with either Water or milk and just taste great over all. My favorites hands down are vanilla bean torte and chocolate truffle. Try Nectar Sweets, you might be able to buy just a packet to try. I usually just buy the huge tub. Best of luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
