Weakness During Workout :(

Recommended Posts

I get very weak and drained very early in my workouts. I am afraid it will lead to lightheadedness and passing out. i also get a weird fullness and gurgling while drinking Water to maintain hydration while exercising. Does anyone else experience this? It's a horrible feeling and hard to stay motivated when it doesn't feel good to begin with. What can I eat or drink prior to to keep me from going down! TIA!

I haven't started out, short of walking my dogs a good distance. I still have an issue with Water intake - I get 72oz in but that's it and most nights I'm still sipping as I go to bed. So I am waiting a bit longer until I can get more calories and water in. I'm 2 months post.

How far out are you? What type of exercise are you doing?

without more information I can only make a guess at this but I suspect you might be looking at a Protein issue. The more active you are the more Protein demand your body will have. I usually have a Protein Bar on the way to the gym, and then dinner after the gym with some sort of lean higher protein meat like chicken or fish.

MY DISCLAIMERS

(I'm not promoting any products. There are many to choose from) (I'm not telling people to do as I do) ( ignore anything that does not apply to your situation )

And YES! I realize I'm a nerd and a bit obsessive with fitness ;)

Ask your surgeon's office about low blood sugars. Your Dr. will give instructions of what to ingest if your blood sugars drop. A glucose meter might be a good investment. You can get them over the counter at Walmart or Walgreens.

food bogs me down pre work out. I usually drink a Protein shake before I go to the gym. After my workout I eat a good meal with plenty of Protein.< /p>

I drink NUUN. It replenishes electrolytes, helps with dehydration. Its used by long distance bicyclists and runners.

I drink a pre workout drink.( thermogenic stimulator)( This May not be recommended by your plan) It kicks my energy up. Check ingredients on the product for carbs and sugar and caffeine. ( sold at GNC - bodybuilding.com the Vitamin shop

I sip slowly throughout my workout. If your cleared to sip from a straw, an option is a small waist cammelbak.

I recently noticed the same thing. My son in law is a professional athlete and I talked to him about it. He said he didn't think I was eating enough calories before my workout. I tried upping my calories before my workout and then having a Protein snack right after, and it took care of the problem. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
