Hi everyone,

After much research I've finally found this forum.

13 months ago I had the sleeve done, and I'm so glad I'm able to find others who have had this surgery with similar experiences etc.

To date I've lost 22kgs( sorry, not sure what that is in pounds).

Problem now is for the past 6 months I've not lost or gained anything.

From day 1, I changed my whole outlook on life. I'm now a gym junkie, lots of cardio workout , good healthy foods, lots of high Protein.

I don't understand why I've not lost any weight in so long.

After much crying to my doctor, finally , he's ordering me to have a special ct scan where I drink a fizzy drink then have my stomach measured, photos taken etc to see if there's a tear or leak in my stomach.

Has anyone had this special scan?

Thanks for taking time to read this.

A kg is 2.2 pounds. So you've lost 48 pounds.

Are you tracking your calories? Most people aim for between 800 and 1000 calories a day during weight loss. Others go even lower. Sign up for myfitnesspal.com and record every single thing you put in your mouth every day. Don't guess, either. Weigh and measure.

Gettingsome from Florida, yes we are all here to support each other. My journey starts on Dec 7. I can't wait. I enjoy reading everyone's outcome.

Good luck, I'm sure everything is ok. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the help. Have never counted calories as I've always been very strict with my foods but I think I'll have to start counting.

I'm sure everything's fine but we will wait & see. Take care & thanks

Hi, I'm in NSW too, sleeved 24/8/16. Definitely start logging all your food - MyFitnessPal is fantastic.

If you can, get a referral to a nutritionist with WLS experience. If it turns out there's nothing wrong with your stomach, it'd be worth reviewing your diet and exercise routine. Hope you sort it out.

Greetings from an ex Sydney person, now in Queensland.

How much Protein daily do you eat (in grams)? How much Water do you drink?

How many Carbs do you consume, and are these healthy carbs like fruit and vegetables, or unhealthy/sugary/processed ones?

How big are your portions per meal?

Do you drink alcohol?

Yes, MyFitnessPal is great to keep track of the food/drink consumed daily.

Once it is set up and programmed correctly, it is very easy to use.

My Dietician gave me percentages of my Daily Goals re: Proteins, Carbs, Fats and Calories.

Yes, as mentioned above, a visit to a Bariatric Dietician would be good, to discuss your situation and make goals and food plans.

Good Luck!

Hi everyone, thanks so much for all your advice.

Today I downloaded

MyFitnessPal.

It's great , so now I can start to really monitor what I consume.

I don't smoke or drink . I find myself being able to eat a decent handful size of meat without feeling over full or sick.

I can definitely eat a lot more & a lot faster than say 5 months ago & to be honest, that scares me.

Doc says it's all normal.

Tomorrow's another day. All I can do is take it as it comes.

Nice to know there are other Aussies on this forum.

Awesome!

Yes, there are few Aussies here :)

I am over 8 months post op, only 3 kg to go, and I have been stalled at the same weight for the past7-8 weeks.

I too can eat more, and eat quicker, and guzzle lot of Water in one go.

I am finding that losing weight is tougher now than when I was in the honeymoon phase.

And my hunger has returned.

Now, the hard work starts.

Let us know how you went with your stomach scans, please.

OzRoo, you've done well with your weight loss! Well done.

So true, losing weight is hard.

I'm just disheartened at the moment. The fact that I've not lost anything at all in past 6 months is mind blowing.

The psychologist says that it's normal, my doc told me that initially I'll lose slot, then my body will regulate itself , I'll plateau for couple weeks then I'll start losing again.

I'm greatful for losing the amount I have, considering the unsuccessful attempts at losing weight being on diets & shakes over the years. I really shouldn't complain.

I've got a friends who've had the sleeve done & weight has just dropped off dramatically. !!!

And, they don't exercise, they smoke & drink!!!!

Take care all

Yes, it can be frustrating and disheartening to not have the scales move for a long period of time.

I guess some people are lucky, and they lose quickly.

I am stepping up dense Proteins, just got GENEPRO Protein powder from the States, that I can add to my coffee.

My other Protein Powder, I add to my Chobani yoghurt.

I have read on these forums that if weight loss stops or stalls for a long time, providing we don't indulge in slider foods, eating Protein mainly meals, no carbs, can help reset and re-start the weight-loss again.

My plan is: 80g Protein, 800 calories per day. Percentage wise: 40% Protein, 35% Carbs, and 22% fats.

I have been upping up my chicken, lamb, fish, turkey and pork, as well as adding more Protein Powder as of today.

Time will show.

I am glad that you downloaded MFP, and now can track your daily food/drink goals and amounts.

I also upped my Water intake.

Good luck to us both, @@rose1504

I'm in Australia too, Qld I use MyFitnessPal and love it for tracking Protein and calories. I'm 5 months out and 17kg or 37.5lbs from my goal. I've noticed that the closer I get to my goal the more my weight loss has slowed. From about 5-10kg or 11-22lbs a month in the first 3 months to about 2-3kg or 4.5-6.5lbs a month now. But it feels like the shape of my body is changing all the time. Did you take measurements when you started? I still take them about once a month.

HW - 140kg or 308lbs

SW - 132.5kg or 291.5lbs

CW - 92kg or 202.5lbs

Yay....!!!! More Aussies on here!

Jobey, you are looking fantastic!!

Unfortunately, my weight slowed right down & I've now stopped dropping.

I never get on the scales or take my measurements but my specialist does & I usually see him every 3 months( only because I've complained that many times).

My measurements haven't changed in 6 months.

We are now looking at having bloods done to check thyroids etc just to put my mind at ease.

I'm becoming paranoid with this body image & it's driving me , the doc & my hubby crazy!!!

Regardless, I'm not giving up! I've come too far now to go back to my old ways.

Sanaa.a keep strong, focused and positive.

The first 2 months were the hardest for me.

Psychologically I couldn't cope with the fact that I couldn't eat solids, but trust me when I say, it does get better.

The shakes in the beginning were the worst for me. I never want to see another shake in my life!!!

Just hang in there. When you start to see your shape change & your weight drop you know it's all worth it!

This is a journey that we will never forget.

Nice to know there's another Sydney sleever on here

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
