agarth89 8 Posted November 22, 2016 I can't get on this healthy wagon. I keep having slip up. I eat things I know I'm not suppose to because I'm tired of chicken broth and ice pops. I make sure I chew well and don't eat much. Any suggestions Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
laceemouse 631 Posted November 22, 2016 How far out are you? I am 3 weeks post op today and I am scared to eat anything my surgeon does not approve of, you could get a leak and end up very sick. I try to think long term. In 2 more weeks I will be able to eat anything that sits well with me (although I plan to take it slow) I am happy to be losing weight. I can't wait to see what I look like at Christmas, Spring Break, next summer....... I have been eating crap for years, I am done with it, I look forward to healthy things like eggs and fish and eventually veggies. I was miserable at 248 pounds. Xombae 113 Posted November 22, 2016 What I did to change up the broth was put Ramen flavoring in it, and strained the Campbell won ton Soup and drank the liquid. Try drinking Protein Water. It gets easier just make sure you don't eat anything you're not supposed to, it can really really hurt you.

kmorri 1,689 Posted November 22, 2016 @@agarth89 Remember your post-op eating plan is not a diet it is a prescription.....if the doctor gave you medicine to take and told you you needed to take it every 4 hours in order to heal wouldn't you take it as directed?............it's the same with the post op eating plan....most of your stomach has been removed there is a huge staple line that is red and swollen....the nerves are not healed so you may not even feel if something is wrong if you eat solid food.....but know this, you are risking your life by eating solid foods too early in the post op period. If you have not watched a YouTube video of the actual surgery I suggest you do so. It will help you to have a clear picture of what was done to your insides. Too often people think they are pretty much healed because there are no bad scars on the outside.....But your insides need time to heal. If you develop a leak stomach acid will leak into your abdomen and cause an abscess.....that is not something you want to happen!!! Please be careful and follow your plan!
