For people who have had surgery already, how long did it take you to reach your goal weight? I know that depends on many different factors and all that and that no one probably reaches goal at the same time especially depending on starting weight and what your actual goal weight is but I'm curious to hear some of your stories

I'm 3 years out and here are my STATS: HW 249 (this time, I weighed 285 before but managed to lose to 249) SW 232 LW 117 CW 125#'s. I went below my goal weight in 6 months but did gain 8#'s back So I have maintained my weight for 2 and 1/2 years. Good luck on your upcoming surgery!! Which surgery are you having?

I didn't set a goal weight or date. I've lost and gained weight significantly at least 3 times. I don't want to set myself up for stress and failure and disappointment. I didn't do this to be a number. I did this to be healthy and to enjoy life. I know many people don't have the same opinion as me and a goal is what best keeps them accountable.

I haven't set a goal weight yet, my surgery was on September 2nd and I am approaching 100 pounds lost since the beginning of my 2 week preop diet. I'm starting to put more thought into it.

It took me eighteen months to lose 107 pounds and more than two years to reach my actual goal. Slow and steady. My sleeve works forever, no expiration date!

I was pretty sure I'd never hit my actual goal, but I've gone below it in the years of maintenance. My advice as a seasoned vet is to focus on a goal you're happy with, but not stress about the numbers. Your body will settle where it's happy. Mine is way smaller than I ever imagined, honestly.

Good luck!

I reached my first goal weight in 10 months. But then I revised it. I never dreamed I would lose that much so quickly, so I didn't realize I would need a "phase 2" goal weight. I think that's pretty common though.

I am 14 months out and am about 15 pounds away from my goal weight. I hope to reach it by the end of the year. I started at 319 on surgery day and am at 152.4 now.

wow thank you all so much!! all your stories are incredible! so proud of all of you, you've all come so far and done great! I'm starting with a pre op diet weight of 226, with "if i have to pick" goal of 130 since I'm a shorty at only 5'2" so depending on what I need to lose after surgery especially since most of us drop a few on pre op diet it will be less than 100 pounds, so hearing your stories some of you having to lose more than that makes me so excited for my journey because if you can be so fantastic at the amount that some of you have lost I hope that I can be also

@@jenn1 that's awesome, any advice on what to do to lose that fast? I had surgery Oct 3 and have lost 34 pounds. I seem to be losing about 3 to 4 pounds a week.Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

34 is pretty good. Faster than me. My surgery was oct 4 and I've lost 26 lbs since surgery give or take. From what I've read and seen speed in the first year is largely determined by genetics. I'm been religiously doing low carb, Water is great and doing 10k plus steps...I'm just a slow loser and always have been. I just have to be patient.

What does it matter how fast it comes off? As long as it's consistently coming off with the normal stalls and such that's all that matters. Took me 15 months to lose 92 pounds, but that doesn't matter one bit to me now that I've been maintaining for over a year. Believe me, maintaining it is less fun than losing it. Enjoy the ride no matter how long it takes, and learn good habits for when the time comes to maintain the weight you lost.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
