That's interesting because I only have to do the liquid diet the DAY before surgery. I bet it will make it more challenging to do it after. At least u get some practice.

I was initial bmi of 37 at 225 now 1 day before surgery at 222. Sometimes I don't feel fat enough to get this surgery, it wakes me up at but that wondering if this is really what I need to do. But I've been up and down my whole life, mostly up. I've tried losing weight for the past year with no success. Are you struggling with the can't I lose it without surgery questions? I some days I am and some days not, I hope tomorrow this questioning is over with. Good luck on your journey too!

I had surgery Nov 1st, weighing 215 lbs. I'm 5'7". I started at 242 but lost 27 lbs prior to surgery. 12 of those 27 lbs I lost in the 2 week pre-op diet stage. Since surgery (3 weeks tomorrow), I've only lost 13 lbs. Because my BMI was low at the time of surgery (33), I anticipate I will be a slow loser. I'll be happy to lose between 10-15 lbs a month.

You must walk walk walk right after surgery. I was off pain meds 4 days post op. No gas pains. It helps if your surgeon helps by pushing some of the co2 out after surgery. I was literally walking a couple hours after they brought me to my room.

I started at 213 BMI 35. My sleeve was 10/18 and I am now 189. I have to be mindful that the goal is 35lbs at six months post op. While it sometimes seems like a slow loss I know that is a comparison issue. Losing slowly has health advantages. I just remind myself that I wasn't able to lose this much on my own so every few pounds is a victory.

Do what your told by medical staff. I was sleeved 9.7.16. I was 380lbs. Being off the chart.. I'm down 30lbs. I'm taking it slow. U do the same. Ask questions when U don't understand. Pay attention to yourself. Take it slow.

Thank you! You are doing amazing....it is an easy decision to do this but also one of the hardest I have ever made. I appreciate your words of advice, to listen to doctors AND my body...we can't wake up thin - damn it! But we have a tool that will change our lives forever....Slow and steady wins the race!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
