How much weight loss in 2wks?

Recommended Posts

You're going to get many different answers because there are so any variables as to how much someone loses.

The more you weigh, the more you'll lose at first. "Lighter" weights tend to lose less.

Older patients tend to lose a little slower..

Females tend to lose slower than guys. (Boo!)

Some people lose nothing or even gain because of Fluid retention from the IV.

That being said, a gal who had surgery the same day I did (we walked the halls together in the hospital after surgery) but was younger than I was and much heavier than I was lost 16 pounds the first week, and I lost 8. See how it can vary?

I had my surgery on the 8th of this month and I've lost 33 pounds. I'm very surprised by the loss but also am having issues with eating so that might be why. Also I had the Roux-En-Y.

You will get some real varying answers but for me at two weeks I had lost 13 pounds. I have averaged about a pound a day since my surgery.

I have lost 30 pounds and no one has even noticed a difference so you should be ok.

They will notice, if they haven't already. Some people I find are genuinely supportive and encouraging. Some harbor thoughts that we have taken "the easy way out". Boy are they mis-informed. I won't waste my energy trying to educate them. Some literally don't want others to succeed. That is their problem not ours! Surround yourself with positive people.

We must do this for ourselves. When I break the 200 barrier, I will celebrate! My goal is 150 and my stretch goal is 135. I am doing this for me. I encourage you to do the same. When we are healthy and active we can smile at ourselves and know, we succeeded. Not only us, but our family, loved ones and everyone around us gets a benefit from our health and positive outlook! Hang in there!!!

it will vary greatly! Even though I was a very high BMI - I lost NOTHING the first two weeks. Please don't start comparing or stressing about the scale this early out. The first month - just focus on plan and healing. The weight loss will happen but the rate really cannot be predicted.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
