How slow or different is Revision weight loss?

Recommended Posts

I keep seeing people say lapband to sleeve revision patients lose weight slower than just sleevers. Im getting revised in December. Some questions I have for those people are 1.) Did you gain most or all of your band weight back before sleeve surgery 2.) How long did you stay significantly overweight before you decided on the sleeve 3.) How much did you lose on your pre op for the sleeve 4.) How much have you lost now and what month are you post op? Thanks in advance for filling out my questionnaire, lol.

Hello. I did my revision on May 27 2016 my Pre Op diet weight was 229 day of my surgery was 219 I am now about 6 months out and I currently weigh 175 you do lose super slow sucks but it's coming off lol. Before my revision I gained about 30 pounds back. It was more than I weighed to began the initial surgery with the band I was weighing 205. I wish you luck and don't get discouraged regardless it's coming off. Still need a ways to go. Keep your head up

1) No, I kept the majority of the weight I lost off. I think I gained about a fourth of what I lost in total. The first 3 or 4 days after the unfill, I gained 17 lbs of just Water alone. Bleh. My average calories was similar to what it's been it's for 7 years (~1200 to 1500 calories). I was told this was normal due to being malnourished and dehydrated by having a too tight band for too long.

2) I had the band removal to sleeve in one step surgery. I was still in onederland when they suggested that I get a revision. They unfilled me that day. I remained unfilled for several months to let my esophagus and stomach rest before the surgery, which was done as an outpatient. (Easy recovery, btw)

3) Not much lost during 3 weeks pre-op, for the same reason I gained some of my weight back. My body was still adjusting and hung onto everything. Even on 800 cal pre-op, my body wouldn't budge! grrrr
4) 11 weeks post op revision: 36 lbs. lost

Thanks for the details! I want so badly to be in "onederland". I only lost about 50% of my extra weight in 2009 from my band and gained that and more back.....currently 277.....I am stressing about cutting my stomach "off" and not being able to lose quickly.....well, it will be better than now, I know, but Im nervous! Dec 16th is coming up fast!

1. I lost 72 pounds initially and had regained 37 before I started the pre op diet.

2. I had band removal and sleeve revision done in one surgery. I had started having swallowing issues last December. There wasn't much time from when I was told that my band had failed until revision surgery. Just a few months.

3. Only lost 5 lbs. on pre op diet on a four shake/one small meal plan (800-1000 calories)

4. I'm five weeks post op and have lost 25 lbs total, 20 since revision.

I am excited for you. Don't worry about cutting your stomach off hehe. You'll still have enough to enjoy eating. :) I watched a couple of videos on how the sleeve was performed, and it's very straight forward. It's even safer than Gallbladder surgery from what I heard. Keep us posted as you go through your journey. :D Feel free to message me or post here if you have any other questions. ^^

I gained all my weight back. I had a another slip, Dr took out all Fluid and told me time to think about revision. Unfortunately my insurance would not pay for that Dr to do it, so had to find new Dr. Who I love.. Had surgery on 9/27 HW 211, SW 201 CW 177.6. Lowest weight with band was 166. Dr. Did tell me that weight would probably come off slower like 2-3 lbs week and not worry about stalls as long as following plan. Still think this was best decision I made. Good luck.

1) I gained all my weight back plus 15. My band worked initially but I could never get a fill I could live with. Even the slightest fill caused food to get stuck. I gave up on fills within the first year. Even unfilled I struggled to eat right. Protein first meant I was throwing up. I learned to eat around the band rather than go back to surgeon and deal with it immediately.

2) I waited 10 yrs from band to revision

3) I started pre op for sleeve 3 months before surgery by choice. I was mentally ready even if I had to jump through all the hoops first. I lost 35 lbs.

4) I've lost 46 lbs. I am 2 weeks post op

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
