LisaMergs 2,854 Posted November 21, 2016 @@hova1980 One slushy is just one bad choice...if it becomes a habit, THEN it's a problem! I had 2 bites of pumpkin pie last night, that was a bad choice. If I do it again tonight and the night after, the pie has to leave my house Do it again tonight I'm getting on a plane and giving you an ass-whopping lol❤️❤️❤️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App No i am not doing it no more Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App Lmao. @@ShelterDog64 It was you I was threatening to come get if you ate more pie lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
shedo82773 1,236 Posted November 21, 2016 I'm 3 years out and my Surgeon said NO STRAWS, I am kind of a rebel sometimes but I have not used a straw since my RNY. But...you all have to make your own choices to STRAW OR NOT TO STRAW!!! This is an ongoing ? for sure.
Mnicole 17 Posted November 22, 2016 I started using straws right away, it actually helped me, I kept swallowing air when I sipped without one Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

OzRoo 1,492 Posted November 23, 2016 Straw and coffee from 1st day post op, still in the hospital. One of my Protein drinks was always given to me with a straw. I also chewed gum early post op, no problems. So, in my own experience and with my surgeon's advice, I had no adverse effects. Nil, Nada. Still use straws daily, drink coffee daily and chew gum at times.

theantichick 2,204 Posted November 23, 2016 Will my stomach every stretch Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App Not as much as people think. The swelling and inflammation after surgery limits your intake to only a couple of ounces, usually. As that swelling and inflammation goes down as you heal, the volume of your sleeve increases. You also teach yourself to be tolerant to larger amounts of food as you progress. The part of the stomach that is cut away is a different type of tissue than what is left. That part that is cut away is VERY stretchy. Depending on how large the bougie your surgeon used, there is VERY little of that super-stretchy tissue left. The tissue that is left for most sleeves will have a little stretch, but not a significant amount. My surgeon says that most people by a few months post-op can eat about 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of food. By a couple of years out, she has seen that go up to a full cup in some people, but usually less. Not me i dont want my stomach to get stretch Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App Fluids and air are NOT going to stretch your sleeve.
