Ginaki 0 Posted September 12, 2007 Hello, after 4months of extensive research and reading all the threads in this forum its about time i joined up.. I attended the free seminar at Epworth Hospital in Boxhill last night and today I called and got an appointment to see the surgeon this Thursday.......Im so excited but also scared cause reality just hit after i made the appointment that my decision and research into getting lapband is on the road to actually happening.............. Has anyone else been banded at Epworth by Mr Patrick Moore? I have also got another seminar booked for October 7 at the Avenue, but im not going to wait , ive decide Epworth will be the one!:whoo: Oh yeah , i got my referral this morning from my GP, i was so nervous because believe it or not i havent visited the doctor since 2004,,Thats a good thing, Isnt it! I havent been sick enough to need to go to the doctor! (thats a positive thought) but then i got really scared because the doctor ordered bloodtest and now im scared because what if i got kidney problems or diabetes or something else..:think...i know that most lapbanders had health issues prior to surgery but will the surgery happen if something is found in my bloodtest so soon prior to surgery? :help:
Chickie 15 Posted September 12, 2007 Hi Ginaki! I would imagine, that unless it was a huge issue to the banding surgeon, or a life threatening condition, they will be able to band you. Best of luck tomorrow!
justwaitin2b 0 Posted September 12, 2007 Hi aussie - I am in queensland, and the surgeon's assistant told me that most of the things that show up in the blood tests, or ultrasounds are just more reasons for the banding to go ahead.....like you, I was scared that they would change their minds...and say no!! but in most cases that's not what happens - it just helps with the research of obesity, and banding, and helps the surgeon prepare for any differences in your internal organs................ if you are quite big, you may find that your ultrasound will show a fatty liver - which if you google it, sounds near fatal - but is actually quite common, and one of the first things to correct itself when you lose the weight. there is an informative lapband message board on yahoo, health, lapband - and you may get more local feedback there - this lapband talk site is great for motivation and inspiration!! good luck - Karen
