kay30NYC 8 Posted November 19, 2016 Im having my sleeve surgery done in 2wks. I have several underlying illnesses such as Lupus, copd, sleep apnea, diabetes and hypertension. I was wondering if anyone has any of these or all that has had surgery ? And how does these conditions hinder recovery or the weight loss. I am a little nervous i know I'll probably become more nervous as the time gets closer. I'm starting the diet next week with the Protein shakes and i wonder how it was the first week after surgery with knowing that you cant eat certain things anymore? Mrs.Geary 1 Posted November 19, 2016 I get chronic bronchitis and have to use prednisone when it happens. Curious if they discussed that with you with the cold? Do you need the prednisone? If so what we're you told? Thanks. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
kay30NYC 8 Posted November 19, 2016 Mrs. Geary i asked that question to my surgeon in the beginning of my process. Because when i have a Lupus flare up or with my Asthma. Im giving steroids and i gain 100 pounds on the steroids the lowest dose. They told me i had a steroid sensitivity. And they try to avoid giving them to me when possible. But yes in the cold i often need it often. Their hoping with the weight loss i will not have a many health issues. However with having the surgery because Lupus isnt curable. My surgeon told me it is possible that i will gain weight back but i shouldn't get back to the size i am now. That's my concern. Mrs.Geary 1 Posted November 19, 2016 Thanks for the info. It is just something in back of my mind. Kind of keeping from feeling 100% to do surgery. I was under impression no NSAID or prednisone ever. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
