What brand bariatric multivitamins do you take?

Recommended Posts

My doc told me save your money and use good old fashion Flintstone multi Vitamins. Taste good and I am a lab tech so I can assure you my labs are great too

I take regular Equate (WalMart) Multivitamins and Calium along with other supplements by either Nature Made or Spring Valley. My surgeon was okay with that and all my work since surgery has been fine. Other supplements consist of D3, Biotin, B12, coq10. Because of my sleeve tummy, I do take all my supplements and medications spread out over about a 1-2 hour timeframe. There's no way I can take all of my morning meds & supplements all at the same time.

I use VitaGene. I did 23&Me years ago so all I did was download and then upload my DNA data, right now I'm just getting the post surgery chewables, then after next month I'll be getting Vitamins designed for me based on my DNA. Pretty cool!

I've never taken a bariatric Multivitamin in my life. I'm 3.5 years post-op. I take Trader Joe's High Potency chewable multi's, which are cheaper, lower calorie, and lower carb than any bariatric multi and my labwork has always been stellar. Bariatric supply companies with their fake candy Vitamins can step off IMO.

I swap back and forth with Flintstones, Centrum, and the patch multivitamin.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
