I'm 4 months post op and just started tp notice a lot of hair loss :'( I was hoping I was going to be one of the lucky ones that it doesn't seem to be so drastic but I'm beginning to worry already :'( I do very well with my Protein & Vitamin intake daily but I have been reading it just doesn't matter whrn it comes to the Hair loss. My main concern now is how long will this take before it stops falling out? I have read up to a year! There will be NO more hair on my head way before a year :'( I do use Nixon Shampoo & conditioner to help with the regrowth :-)

Any secrets anyone has to help me get through this would be great!!

:-)

I had RNY gastric bypass surgery 3 years ago. I did not notice any hair loss. I believe that as your weight loss phase comes to an end and you transition into the maintenance phase, this Hair loss should come to an end and you should experience a regrowth. In my case I transitioned at month 7. Some sleeve patients lose weight at a slower pace and transition up to 2 years after surgery. But this also varies by individual and the amount of weight that someone has to lose. So everyone is different.

I used a supplement called Juvenon for many years before and after surgery. It can be purchased on the internet. I suspect this product helped to keep my hair from falling out. The reason why I say this is because I am now 68 years old and about a decade ago long before my weight loss surgery, I was starting to go bald. I began using this product. This supplement stopped that and also gave a little color back to my hair which was turning white at the time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
