3rd Fill - feeling weird

Recommended Posts

Ok, I had my 3rd fill this afternoon. I did just great, went easier than usual actually. When I walked out to go set up my next appointment though, I started to feel really woozy and shaky. Very cold all of a sudden and weird. Anyone else ever have this happen? I was tempted to walk back to nurse's station and ask to see the doc again, but I was running late for work. I have to tell you though, I was a little worried I wouldn't make it to my car. I was fine after awhile and a couple drinks of Water. Has anyone else had this happen?

I have -- I hate needles, and the doctor said it is your bodies fear reaction - shutting down. Doctor told me to be sure to eat plenty of Protein before my appt.

First fill - I ate nothing before hand - almost passed out during the fill - took 1.5 hrs.

Second fill - had Protein before and husband drove me - I was clamy and slightly awkward feeling.

Third fill - had protein before got done with the fill and started feeling lighthead and sat down and relaxed and then was fine.

Forth fill - drank a 42gr Protein shake on my way to the fill and no issues what so ever! I think I finally licked it -- (keeping my fingers crossed)

WOW... that is awful! I'm sorry you have such an ordeal with your fills! I have only had this happen this time.... and I don't have an issue with needles so I'm not sure what is going on. I will try to have more Protein before next time though.

Thanks!

I would give the doctor a call -in the morning and talk to him - since you don't have fear issue.

Just to be safe!

Wishing you the best!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
