We've been approached by a pretty innovative company that would like us to sell Adult diapers that were specifically created for bariatric patients. I haven't seen this topic discussed on here much and I was curious how if you've ever used Bariatric Adult Diapers before or after weight loss surgery?

The poll is 100% anonymous!

I think Poise pads works for those who have stress incontinence due to obesity. If they need a diaper they are eating too much fat and sugar and are not compliant IMHO.

Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

Respectfully disagree. I had serious poo issues and I was 100% compliant. :) But no on the diapers. Nope.

I alsohad serious poo problems after my RNY and I was totally compliant!!! I became Lactose Intolerant. On my 2 week Prop and then 4 weeks Postop. No diapers for me.

I have to say, if I had read online that wearing a diaper was part of the normal recovery process for WLS, it would have given me pause for thought on whether I was making the right decision or not.

Um, seriously if someone told me I may need adult diapers after WLS that probably would have been enough for me to say "thanks, but no thanks". It's not normal to need a diaper post op. If you do, either you need to change what you're doing i.e. Buy some lactose free shakes, or call your doctor or take some Probiotics or something. That is not normal.

This is interesting. I never heard of such a thing. Is it that bad people would need a diaper? I hear many people not being able to do a number 2.

I don't know about this. However, for the first 24 hours after surgery I had bladder incontinence issues. I never had issues before and my BMI was 41. It felt like my bladder didn't "wake up" after surgery.

I was still in the hospital then and it wasn't a big deal. I had dry heaves and each time I heaved, I wet myself. Miserable, but by the end of the day I was fine. I didn't need diapers but did buy Poise pads to use the first day or two at home, just in case.

I was worried that I would have sudden urge. My bedroom is upstairs, bathroom down stairs, so moving slow plus urge could have been trouble. Turned out I was just over cautious and didn't need them.

Actually, during the night a couple of times, I defecated in my pants!! Thought it was gas, or in my sleep rather, thought it was gas!! Threw out several pair of underwear! But no way to diapers!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
