oh what could it be??

I can go about 3 hours and then my stomach growls up a storm. I am actually thinking that it is because I am hungry. Now, I say, what is hunger? Never experienced it before. Not the same thing as HEAD hunger (appetite). I think it growls when it is empty and it's ready for some food. I THINK that is the way a normal stomach is. Then when I feed it, the growling goes away and I feel better. So it must be "hunger" in the strictest sense of the word. That is a word as foreign to many of us as "full" is.

Are you recently banded? My tummy made lots of rumblies right after being banded. Like it was growling but I knew I wasn't hungry. I chalked it up to "adjusting".

Also, did you recently take a drink of liquid? It will gurgle a lot in the beginning too.

If you were just banded... gas.

If you were just filled... restriction.

If none of the above, either air in your intestines or hunger. But hunger and air in your intestines does not mean the same thing.

Nonono... we "FEEL" hunger, we "hear" stomach noises. They are not the same.

For the vast majority of bandsters, those noises decrease dramatically over time. I still get them sometimes, but very rarely -- like less than once a month. In the beginning I remember being embarassed about them too. If you just say to people, as if it's funny, "geeze, I don't know WHAT is up with my stomach today" they usually laugh and don't focus on it any further. That's what worked for me, and it's a fairly short-lived problem, I promise!

my stomach makes those noises when my pouch is full and things are trying to trickle thru... i sound like "chewy" from star wars and it is embarrassing but my co-workers, family and friends are used to it by now... the worst part is if i am on the phone with customer and i make a chewy sound - i pretend it didnt happen!! lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
