I am 13 months post op. About 10 months post op i started having severe night sweats. I talked to my pcp bc it's bad. My surgical team told me I needed to see my pcp right away. So she automatically told me it was probably tuberculosis bc years ago I had a positive skin test, with a negative chest X-ray. I still chose to do the treatment to be safe, since I was going into the medical field and I have kids. Well the chest X-ray this time around was normal, some of my blood tests showed I was fighting an infection but she didn't know what. She test my hormone levels and everything was good, she told me then it couldn't be menopause bc I'm not old enough and my cycle is on time and normal. She wanted to run more tests. However she never ordered any other tests. I asked her over and over when they would be ordered and she said she would have her nurse do it. It never happened. So anyways today she told me "it's hot flashes, there is nothing I can do." So of course I feel like she's just saying that to get me to go away. But I'm still having the night sweats, I have to change my pjs 3 times a night and wash my sheets daily, I am still expecting the other symptoms as well extreme fatigue, severe headaches, no appetite at all, are some of them that started around the same time as the sweats. Her solution for no appetite was get a medical marijuana card. I was not at all happy with that response. Bc I felt like it would completely defeat the purpose of the surgery. I'm switching pcp but I am just wondering if anyone else expected these symptoms around 10 months to year post op?

Perimenopause symptoms can start in your 20s, which isn't the most common age but not unheard of. You may want to research and see if there are any easy treatments. The WebMD list some different things you may want to try.

How old are you? People don't realize that peri menopause can start 10 years before you actually go through menopause. It was be a long process.

I don't know I would push for more test specifically because your labs say your fighting something so your wbc is probably high. Are any of your glands swollen? Are you running a temp? New aches and pains?

My lymph nodes in my neck swell but they are not painful. I do have a fever that comes and goes. Mostly in the evening and at night.

Swollen lymph nodes in the neck are a symptom of Epstein-Barr, aka mono.

Contrary to popular belief, you can be infected with mono when you are young and experience symptoms again when you are much older.

The vast majority of people under 25 get mono. Most are asymptomatic, and never know they had it.

I noticed my lymph nodes in my neck were swollen first, followed by a sore throat. I used to get strep a few times a year as a smoker, so I went to the doctor assuming I had a throats infection. I was one of the unlucky few % of people who developed full blown mono symptoms and basically crawled around the house on my hands and knees for 6 weeks. I slept on the floor because I didn't have the strength to get into bed. I had a fever, nightsweats, and became very dehydrated.

It's worth checking out, even though there's nothing they can do for you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
