I just got my date today! On December 15, I will be revising from lapband to RNY. I had to fight with my surgeon's office to get it sent in, but they did (surgeon himself helped nudge the office) and it was approved in 8 days. I'm so ready to start this new journey!

I hated optifast. I do like Premier Protein. You may want to sample some of the stuff out there.

Hello,

I just had my lap band removed but I have to wait for 3 or 4 months to have my RNY surgery. I have a lot of adhesions and I have to wait until the swelling goes down.. Anyone else had to do this?

My lapband is due to be removed this Wednesday (30th Nov), if all goes well then I'll have the bypass done at the same time however that's dependent on adhesions etc too. If everything doesn't go perfectly then same thing as you Felicia, I'll have to wait 3 months for a bypass. I'll try to remember (through a foggy post-operative brain) to come back and let you know if we're going to be waiting together.

Yep, I had to do the same. My surgeon refuses to do the RnY on the same day as band removal because of all the scar tissue and adhesions that band patients have. It was tough to wait but my RNY surgery was totally smooth sailing so he must have known what he was doing ;)

Hi all, I had a revision from

Band to Bypass at the beginning of November. Happy to answer any questions! :)

I'd love to keep up with your progress. I'm scheduled for 12/15.

How was your recovery compared to your band? Also, did you have a lot of pain where the port was removed? And where was your port? Mine is basically between my boobs and down about 2 inches. I don't see many with that placement.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
