Pain in my side..

Recommended Posts

After banding, I didn't take pain meds like I should have, ended up having bad pain in my side that kept me from being able to function right.. longer than most banders.

Anyway, since then.. I still feel it if I try to sleep on my stomach. Last night I was so exhausted from a road trip, I wanted to just flop on the bed.. OUCH!

I haven't heard anyone else mention this pain this far post-op.. But it's under my left breast, around where I figure the actual band is. If I lay on my stomach, or on my side, where my side is being pushed on.. it's very painful.

Anyone else have this?

I have something similar, I wouldn't say it is painful but I do feel pressure. I attributed it to swelling and healing since I'm only 6 days out.

Have you talked to your surgeon about it? I hate that you are in pain, especially after the length of time after your surgery.

i had/have pain in my left shoulder... i asked my dr. last week what it was from and he told me it was from then pulling right there and under the left rib..so it could possibly be from that!!!

Mine is an actual pain... what it reminds me of, is if you're pulling your arm back, that sharp pain like you're pulling a muscle.. But I feel it just from laying on my stomach, inside my stomach area. From what little I know about anatomy (hehe), I think it's like my band being pushed into something and like the edge of the band hurts whatever it pushes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
