Recommended Posts

I made a group called "December 2016 Sleevers!" I would love for everyone who has a surgery date in December to join! lets be a great support system for each other and go on this journey to a better us with great friends. Share our success and failures along the way, cheer each other on, wether you already have support from your family and friends or from nobody at all like I've unfortunately seen from some, lets make sure we definitely have each other to lean on! btw they say you normally gain weight around the holidays, are we crazy?! haha

December 6th was my surgery and I also would like to join! :)

Tomorrow is the day!! Doing my pre-op today. Not really feeling nervous yet, just excited! It has really helped having everybody on this forum! Almost before I can ask a question, someone has already answered it! I will probably be more nervous tomorrow but am so ready to start this journey!

Got a call from the dr. office. Good news is that I got my wish and I get to go first in the morning (there are two of us scheduled). Bad news...we have to be there at 5:30am!!! Oh well...ready to get going!

Gosh I want a cold glass of milk so badly. Week 3 I can have skim milk. I'm gonna smoothie myself to death, lol with my Protein packs

I'm glad to see it gets better!! Today has been just very uncomfortable. I've never had acid reflux or anything but all day I have felt like something is stuck! I want a cup of milk so bad and my head is killing me.

I want a sip of sprite so I can get a good burp. Lol

Lol I think we all want a sip of soda here and there but it's way to risky plus I have enough burping going on with all that gas they put me in on surgery lol

I found that if I swallow a little air with my liquid it helps if I fell the need to burp :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
