Has anyone had a revision. I had my lap band taken out in March due to some awful situations and just a huge mess. Now I'm in the process of preparing for the sleeve. I'm excited but nervous. Anyone doing the revision or have had it done? What has your experience been? Thanks in advance!

I had a relatively successful band for since 2009, and this last September I had the revision to sleeve.

Hmm, let's see, I had it done outpatient by a skilled surgeon. It was fast, she removed the band and did the sleeve in about an hour. I was released at 4 pm that same day. It was an easy recovery. I followed everything she suggested, and by day 3, other than muscular pain, I pretty much felt normal.

Eating wise, it's quite different. Like the band, liquids and pureed food passes through, so slider foods are still slider foods. When I eat dense solids, I get satisfied very quickly. I've had the sleeve for almost 11 weeks, and I haven't slimed or got plugged yet. I did get nauseous once due to eating too fast as I was in a big hurry that day. Luckily with the band it became a habit to really chew my food and not drink after a meal so for the most part, it feels as if I never had any surgery. I can eat fruits, steak, vegetables like I did before my band but due to the sleeve I get full at about 4 oz (depending on how dense it is).

I don't regret the revision at all. I did go in to have my band adjusted and wasn't seeking any revision of any kind but the doctor who saw me suggested for me to change to the sleeve to avoid any future complications since I had a history of esophageal dilation due to being too tight.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
