Terri70 37 Posted November 15, 2016 I know that I'll need to ask my surgeon when I see him, but thought I would see what all of you say. Do most surgeons approve FMLA and Short-term disability?
Xombae 113 Posted November 15, 2016 Mine did. They have me out from work for 8 weeks.
Ldyvenus 317 Posted November 15, 2016 Nice! 8 weeks. I am going for 4 weeks.
Xombae 113 Posted November 15, 2016 I'd love to go back sooner, but my job is really physically demanding. I make guns, and the motions of pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting and standing on my feet for 12 hours made my surgeon want to keep me out until I'm completely healed. Just wondering because my surgery is November 30 and just wondering what I may need to ask for. My job isn't very demanding but I am concerned about the 50 minute commute and feeling tired or sore. rebuildingrebecca 8 Posted November 16, 2016 Mine offers it for up to 6 weeks. I'm not taking it though, just using PTO I have hoarded and will go back asap! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using the BariatricPal App
Tiffanie13 41 Posted November 16, 2016 I'm hoping to just be out 2 weeks but am worried about driving and the long commute. I do have the option of working from home if I feel up to it so that would help me to not use all of my sick and vacation time. But I will do what my doctor says to do because he knows best and I don't want any complications. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Did you have any complications that caused you to be out that long? I go for my preop appointment with my surgeon on Friday so hopefully I will know how long I will be out then. I have my fmla paperwork ready for them to fill out for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
