My plan says that I should be on full textured foods. I was sleeved on 10-24.

I feel like I can barely make the pureed food work. Every time I eat I feel like I have a block in my throat and the only way I can feel better is to throw up.

I'm not getting my Protein in because I can barely stomach it in any capacity. Blending Protein powder into my food makes me want to throw up, sipping on Protein drinks makes me want to throw up and I still can't get in 64 oz of liquid a day.

I really don't know how anyone can get in the food that people say they can consume. I feel defective.

Has anyone had this much trouble or do you think there is something wrong with me?

You are only three weeks out. It does get better, it's practically a full time job getting in your Protein and Water in the beginning.

I'd call your nutritionist, it's always a good idea if you are struggling.

I am now 7 weeks out and it has improved a lot for me. Can you tolerate broth? powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury makes a chicken broth Protein powder that helped me a lot weeks 2-4.

Something about certain Protein powders made me throw up even smelling them (unjury SUCKED for this). I had to find Protein shakes that I could drink and the ones that ended up working best for me were Boost's glucose control series (bought them at regular grocery store).

If broth is something you can keep down, by all means do get as much as you can, but if you really can't get anything down, do contact your doctor ASAP so they can figure out things that might help you.

The recovery from the swelling varies from person to person.

My surgery was 10/25 and I am mostly on puree but can do mushy if I chew it to puree. I am full on 3 oz.And I am still getting 3/4 of my Protein from Protein Powder.

I like the unjury unflavored mostly I just blend it 1% milk but I also blend it into cottage cheese, you're and no added sugar pudding.

I have a hard time with smells and the powder really grossed me out for a while so I mixed the powder right into the yogurt and cottage cheese so it's ready to eat when I want it. I add 2 scoops (42gr) per large tub.

The smell doesn't bother me now, now it's just bacon, car exhaust, wet dogs, teen bys laundry...

I would call your surgeon to rule-out the possibility of a stricture.

I similarly got grossed out by Protein shakes after surgery. Pre surgery on thought they tasted like chololate milk, now I find they remind me of drinking from a mud puddle.

I had surgery Oct 27, and started introducing soft foods. So far, in 4 days. I managed to eat 1 can of kippered herring (smoked and salted fish) and it took about 4 hours. I felt full, like Christmas dinner I need to lay down full, so I haven't ventured down that path again.

I'm sticking with puréed foods and some yummy Soups I made for full liquids, since it seems to agree with me better for now.

I was sleeved on 10/10 and am still in the soft food stage. I think you are skipping ahead. Go back to puréed or soft foods. My surgeon said I can stay in phases for as long as I feel comfortable and then keep trying slowly to move on to the next.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
