Liquid phase question

Recommended Posts

I'm still a little while out from my December 22nd sleeve, but I'm thinking ahead. Lipton makes a dry Soup with noodles in it. Is it okay to strain out the noodles and keep only the powder to make my own broth with? I did this during a colonoscopy prep and they said it was fine but I want to know if that applies for pre/post diet.

I'm basically wanting to fill a container with the powder and use a teaspoon to make 8 0z of broth. It's not completely see through clear, but slightly cloudy.....any thoughts? I would say the same as a bouillon cube.

Also, is adding a Protein powder to this an option to reach daily goals?

I would think the Soup would be okay as long as the sodium isn't too high. Yes, you can add Protein Powder to this. I have tried every Protein Shake under the sun and found I can tolerate Premier the best. I am two weeks out and struggle to get two of those down a day. Plus my Water. Everything else I drink or eat is just for fun really.

I'm almost positive this is what the broth was that my hospital served me after the surgery. It certainly tasted like it.

What Protein Powder do you recommend? I'm overwhelmed with the choices and am starting to sample different shakes to see what I want to get for my 10 day preOP. Premier are okay, but even a little too sweet. I'm a fruity person.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
