pammieanne 269 Posted November 14, 2016 You are only a few days out. You just had major surgery. Forget that it was even on your stomach. ANY kind of surgery will leave you feeling weak. fruit is last thing you need... you have a couple of weeks, depending on your doctor's plan, before you have regular food. Your brain is being whiny, and that's the worst struggle. Hang in there, because it will get better... then worse (with the brain cravings)... then better again. It's a constant struggle... right now, just sip on your Water and Protein drinks, and find something to take your mind off of the food.< /p> And allow yourself time to get all of the anesthesia out of your system, because even that takes a long time. You'll start to feel better before you know it, promise! Just remember to drink! Getting dehydrated will just make it all worse.
Odie 249 Posted November 14, 2016 Soup saved me when I had surgery while I was on liquids. I sipped at it constantly. Did you have RNY? I was hungry too even though I was told I wouldn't feel hungry. It's probably not hunger that has you feeling weak, but rather the anesthesia that you had. I was wiped out for months after my surgery. When people would tell you that the hunger was my brain talking, not my stomach, I wanted to punch them but they were right!! It's like an addict on Opioids, it's not a physical craving it's the brain playing tricks on you.
esskay77 785 Posted November 14, 2016 I was also going to say Soup or chicken broth. It's just the right amount of savory that makes you feel like you have eaten and it is delish! It does get better (and like someone else said, and then worse, and then better again!).

Djmohr 6,965 Posted November 15, 2016 Sip chicken broth, all day if you have to. It and Water will help you. Dehydration can make you feel like you are hungry. I guarantee you....you are not feeling real hunger pangs....it is not possible this soon. I hate to say this but as soon as you actually eat something, you will regret it. Just follow the plan and try to get your head into a different place. The first week is the worst and I remember that horrible feeling of weakness. I was allowed only Clear Liquids week 1, not even Protein shakes. Once i was able to get some Protein shake and cream Soups, I began to get more energy. It will take some weeks before you feel like yourself again. I think it was week 7 for me where I started to feel somewhat human. then after that, everything started to kick in for me. Best of luck to you and congratulations on your surgery! Everyday will get a little better!

Redmaxx 740 Posted November 15, 2016 Thursday will be 4 weeks post op for me. I must say that I never felt weak. The biggest problem I have is that I forget to eat because I am never hungry. Also, I never feel full so I stick to the 4 oz of Soup (cream of or tomato). Hang in there, we are all in this together and you have a very large support system here on the forum.
