Hi I'm 6 weeks post op from a gastric bypass and have started solids taking it slow but I feel like i can eat anything now which I feel has happened quite quick I thought it would take a lot longer so I'm scared that I'm not goin to lose any weight, im not eating loads on 3 meals per day with no snack maybe a fat free yogurt and I've started to exercise aswell. I've started to track my calorie intake and wondering what everyone eats I need healthy meal ideas and would like to know how many calories people are sticking to I'm thinkin maybe 800 or below is this ok xx

Ooh that cookbook looks good never thought to look for cookbooks but will get on eBay lol. I've tried omelette with spinach and mushrooms, Beef stew, chicken casserole both packed with veg, Chinese stir fry, jacket potatoes, Soup, and I'm goin to try tandori chickenmade fromfat free yogurt in a wholemeal pitta with some salad. Do these sound ok I do make sure I stick to low fat stuff and plenty of veg but what does everyone do about carbs I'm goin to measure everything aswell like we had to for the pre op diet I find it helps stay on track of calories aswell I think this is were the really hard work begins x

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
