Nothing really to do with my sleeve directly more with my stiches

Recommended Posts

So I had to change my gauzes and clean my incisions twice a day. I'm almost 16 days post op and it seems I was allergic to 3 different types of tapes. Or I'm not sure what happened but has this happened to anyone here. It also my like a burn but it's so itchy! I have been using dial soap and no non scented soaps and no lotions any advice ? post-305021-147911719922_thumb.jpg

Looks like u definitely had a reaction to the tape speak with ur dr. You should be able to wipe it down with a alcohol wipe to keep it disinfected and let the gauze off of it air is good for it usually at this point. There are anti itch creams that will help with the itch. I would not take benedryl without asking the dr first.

I'm also allergic to surgical tapes. They used Dermabond this time and I didn't have any trouble. Contact your dr to see what he wants you to use.

Yeah I mean it's clearly a reaction but it's all scabby I tried alcohol it burns and I did get a antiseptic spray. But I what could I put on there so my stomach isn't itchy. (My dr gave me an antiseptic spray and he said to continue using it but he said to just pat my stomach no scratching but it's not helping.

My daughter is allergic to adhesives. Now when she goes to camp, I pack non- adhesive bandages (coban) for her, but when she was little we'd occasionally get a well- meaning preschool teacher sticking a bandaid on her knee or elbow. It would leave a bandaid- shaped scar that would last a year. It wouldn't even tan.

However, the scars did fade. I'm just letting you know that this might last a while, but it will get better.

Yes, at first, but the itch faded in a couple of days. There's a pretty big difference in the amount of exposure you got, though.

My daughter is the same (hooray for coban!) And I agree. The itches and welts and scabs will go away. They aren't fun, but they will heal.

Yes ask the doc to give you a cream with a steroid in it. Same thing happened to me. Hydrocortisone and Benadryl did NOT work. The steroid prevented the itching and it eventually went away.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
