Ok, I need to ask... Am I weird??? LOL.

I'm heading into week 4 post op.

*First: I still buy SO MUCH FOOD! I've had to let my husband do the shopping. I now kinda get that a few fat free yogurts and low fat Soups will get me thru the week.

*Second: I hit my first stall for 2 weeks and even gained 2 lbs back.

My brain says "well that was fun! Surgery and ya only lost 25lbs!".

I'm not afraid but I simply don't believe that I'm going to lose any more weight. I feel like I'm going crazy waiting to lose this weight.

Has anyone else had similar feelings?

It's so bizarre to me. I feel like I'm on the verge of something wonderful happening but then I look in the mirror and wonder is this really going to work?

You are normal. It takes time for us to adjust both mentally and physically. And, stalls are normal. Just stick to you plan. There are lots of topics on stalls, no losing, etc you can search for to read more about it.

Stay positive; stay on plan, and continue to meet your Protein and Water goals. You'll start losing again. I had my stall right on schedule during Week 3. It lasted 2 weeks, and I have lost almost 20 pounds in the 3 weeks since. The body will do things in its time. We just have to be patient, follow the plan, and let it work!

Best wishes!

I stalled after just seven days and I was pissed. I stalled for 2 weeks, not even losing .5/lb. I was self pay and thought maybe this whole thing was just a HUGE waste of time and money.

Week 3 I dropped 9 lbs, so I assume my body was holding onto Water weight for a while. I've since lost 3 more this week. It will break, I know it sucks, but it will as long as you stay on plan!

Thanks for tbe kind words! Took the dog for a walk and caught a glimpse of the ginormous moon. It helped to get out and move and gain perspective. Everyone's shared experience is so helpful. I truly thank you for helping me walk through this journey. ????

Ugh, I'm going into week 3 post op, and I have gained 2lbs. I have been beating myself up, what am I doing wrong?

I was so happy the pounds were melting off up until this point.

The scale is not your friend. Stop weighing your self or weight once a week. If you're on plan you are losing FAT the day to day fluctuations aren't worth getting upset over.

I am 4 weeks post op, lost over 20 lbs in my first two weeks and then stalled for a little over 2 weeks. Now, I weighed myself this morning and I have lost another 3 pounds. Stalls will happen, to pretty much ALL of us. Just don't get discouraged about it. Discouragement is what causes us to give up, and that is no longer an option. Cheer up and realize you did something wonderful for yourself!

Some food for thought...

If you think you are going to fail, you are right.

if you think you are going to succees, you are right.

Your choice.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
