TiredOfMyself 141 Posted November 15, 2016 I struggled with nausea and pain so I stayed 3 nights.
etucker 0 Posted November 15, 2016 I just wondered if it was because I'm cash pay. I assume insurance will pay for a couple nights. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
sk101 67 Posted November 15, 2016 I think I must be the exception to the rule here. I was in for 3 nights after spending 2 days on two drips for Fluid and morphine. It was not a comfortable time as I had complications
martinibug 7 Posted November 15, 2016 My doctor has me scheduled as same day surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
NikkiRT 265 Posted November 15, 2016 My operation was on October 10th and I stayed one night. I was discharged the following day around 11 am. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
#BirdDog 604 Posted November 15, 2016 I stayed overnight. Had my surgery in the morning and was up and walking the same day. Next day they cut me loose around noon. I didn't want to be in the hospital a minute more than I had to.
LisaC123 3 Posted November 15, 2016 I stayed until the next day. I'm glad that I did. I actually went to another surgeon after visiting one who discharged same day. I have a family at home and knew that would be too much for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
GrandmaBee55 47 Posted November 16, 2016 My sleeve was 8/3/16 and I was told I'd be in 2 nights. However, I was in 3 nights because my bladder didn't wake up and I ended up being catheterized. Once I was able to pee, things happened quickly and I was discharged. A woman in my support group did the sleeve as out-patient because she didn't have insurance. She did fine but had no complications. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Boudala 27 Posted November 16, 2016 My surgeon said he planned for me to go home same day as surgery. Is this normal?? Scheduled sleeve: 12/6/16 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I was sleeved on 10/6/16 and I was self pay and at the last minute the surgical center cancelled my one overnight stay and said they had a staffing issue and that I would be going home the same day. And my surgeon was supposedly fine with it. I don't think it's. a good idea based on my experience because I did become dehydrated and could have used some more IV fluids prior to being sent home. My vote is at least one overnight. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
MowryRocks 679 Posted November 16, 2016 I was sleeved on 10/26 at 12:00pm and went home the following day at 4pm. My surgeon requires one night in hospital, but does an X-ray to check for leaks prior to releasing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
