Nothing is quenching my thirst. Help!

Recommended Posts

It's been a sweltering 38 degrees here the last few days (in Australia) and I feel like I've had my drink bottle permanently attached to my lips.

I'm not tolerating plain Water (no matter what temp) so I've been adding sugar free cordial and drinking that. But I always feel thirsty, and I feel like I'm literally drinking all day.

Can anyone suggest anything that might help? It's not even officially summer yet. Aghhh.

I'm 5 weeks post op, so still sipping...and sipping...and sipping.

How much Fluid are you getting per day?

Usually at least 1.5 - 2L (50-60oz). I know this isn't enough but I honestly don't know how I can get any more in. I sip all day but it hurts if I take too much in at a time.

Unfortunately you have answered your question. Nothing is slaking your thirst because you are still thirsty! I know it is difficult in the beginning, and you may never regain your taste for Water (I haven't yet). All you can do is keep sipping. Don't forget that broth and milk count towards your Fluid intake. And you may need a little bit of sodium to help you retain some fluids as well.
