I had grits which were on my plan week 4 with some fish and they were horrible! Expanded in my stomach is my guess, but it felt absolutely awful. I have not done grits or cream of wheat since. I am able to eat oatmeal since week 4 and it's good, nice and warm and sits well.

I was allowed thinned cream of wheat early on-- I can't remember if it was in full liquid though or the next stage up.. but I remember it being wonderful lol. I thinned it quite a bit with skim milk, and added a scoop of Protein powder to it.

What does your plan say?

Cream of wheat was on my plan beginning at Day 14. Grits are on the "avoid forever" list since they expand.

I was given cream of wheat while in the hospital and on full liquids. I would say yes

Cream-of-wheat is nowhere in my plan. It's a carb and my Dr. says NO. I can have whole grain carbs max 2-3 X a week and oatmeal is not even recommended. While on full liquids, make sure there isn't any food particles. With that being said, it seems like you would only be getting strained Water.

Your surgeon and I would get along great. My people spent weeks trying to push carbs on me until I finally got pointed about it said it wasn't going to happen...

It's a yes on my list too. 1/4 cup dry makes twice as ch as I can eat. I make it with 4oz of warm cashew milk mixed with a 1/2 scoop of Protein Powder (about 10 grams protein) very filling.

Cream of wheat was on my mushies plan but I didn't want the empty carbs when I could barely meet my Protein goals.

On my full liquids I could have cream of wheat, grits and oatmeal thinned out to the point it's running off the spoon . I also when to Panera and got cheddar broccoli Soup and strained the chunks out , Olive Garden and got the creamed based Soups strained those I also asked for mostly all broth that helped me get thru the second week of full liquids .. I'm down 15 pounds my surgery was 2 weeks ago

All grains were completely off limits during weight loss phase on my plan. As you can see, plans vary a lot. You should check with your team to see what yours allows.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
