In terms of solid foods, I was able to add well-cooked green Beans, cottage cheese, and string cheese at Week 4. Week 5 I added scrambled eggs; Week 6, I added salmon, and Week 7, I added chicken, ground beef, and ground turkey.

Right now, I eat scrambled eggs once per day, cottage cheese twice per day, string cheese twice per day, and chicken, ground beef, and salmon once per day each. I am getting between 800-900 calories per day, less than 20 carbs per day, and around 90 grams of Protein per day.

How many ounces are you eating at a time?

Are you still drinking Protein drinks, or getting your Protein just from your food. Also how much can you eat at a time?

I eat 1 egg twice per day. I eat 2 oz of each meat accompanied by 1 oz of green Beans each time (3 "meals" total). I eat 1 string cheese twice per day, and 4 oz of cottage cheese twice per day.

I am about to start solid foods and just want to know an idea of what some of you eat daily.

I'm almost 5 months post-op, so this will look like a lot of volume to you:

Breakfast is a cup of coffee with a scoop of Protein powder, for 20g +/-. Sometimes I also have a greek yogurt, but I'm not a Breakfast lover and the Protein in my coffee keeps me going until later in the day. A single-serve greek yogurt is 15g protein and if I don't have it for breakfast, I'll have it at lunch time.

Mid-morning, I'll have a cheese stick (8g) or a couple of apple wedges with a tablespoon of Peanut Butter (4g).

Mid-afternoon, an ounce of almonds (6g) or 1/2 cup cottage cheese with pureed no sugar added preserves (15g)

dinner is usually two ounces of some kind of protein, like salmon (15g) and a couple of ounces of a vegetable.

Before bed, if I need more protein for the day, I'll eat more almonds, or another cheese stick.

Other things I eat regularly are Beans. 1/2 cup of refried Beans with a T of grated cheese (6-7g)

Lentils, 1/2 cup with sauteed onions (8-9g)

When I reached mushy food stage I was able to have deli turkey, ground beef, shredded chicken, fish and scrambled eggs. So when solid food hit the next week, I was able to add grilled and baked chicken, pork and denser beefs. And all vegetables except tomatos.

At 4.5 mths out, I have a Protein shake for breakfast, for lunch and dinner, I alternate between eggs, beef, chicken, tuna salad, chicken salad, turkey, ham. Usually 2-4 ozs.. Add in a couple of bites of veggies and i am full. cheese for a snack if needed. And sugar free popsicles are still a staple in my freezer.

Haven't met a food I can't tolerate. I take small bites and eat slowly (most of the time) I also eat out a lot so leftovers are always in my fridge.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
