Is fast weightloss possible? 6 Days Post up and down 21 lbs

Recommended Posts

Hello Guys just wondering if rapid weight loss is expected and I mean RAPID!!! I got sleeved on Nov 7 2016 and on Nov 3 I was weight at Dr's office and I was at 321 days be4 my surgery. I went to see my Dr after being discharged from hospital due to bowels were not moving on Nov 9 and I was down to 306. Then I weight myself yesterday morning and my scale is reading 299. is this even possible? Today I start my phase 2 of Clear Liquids diet for the next 2 weeks. Any advice or help greatly appreciated.

Overall, men tend to lose faster than women. Some lose fast and others not. And, a home scale usually weighs differently from the doctor's scale.

Sounds like you are off to a good start! Just don't expect too much because at some point your body will begin to heal and adjust and the weightloss will slow down or stall. That is normal. Keep to your plan and let your body do what it needs to do. It will all work out in the end.

I had my surgery on Oct. 11 2016, so I am just a little over a month out. The first week I lost 18 lbs. I thought, "This is great!" But I have slowed down some. Three weeks and a couple days later, I am down another 15 lbs, but they tell me not to continue to expect this kind of loss. Time will tell. I have about 80 lbs to go to reach my target.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
