Surgery scheduled for Nov. 22nd! Steps and timeline that it took for me to get here...

Recommended Posts

My surgery is also November 22. Just wondering how all of you are doing? Any nerves? I am unusually calm, though I'm sure I will be a ball of nerves the day of.

Clear liquids only afternoon tomorrow, that's going to be rough. Probably should go to be early!

My day is the 22nd also! It is finally here There are days I wondered if it would ever here. My Dr. had me on 2 Protein shakes and a small meal (3 oz meat and sm serving low carb veggies) for last two weeks. Today I am restricted to clear liquids only. Glad I didn't have 2 weeks of clear liquids! Today is also bowel cleanse. Joy!

Wishing you all the very best! Will lift you up in prayer. I am excited to have this opportunity to have this surgery, gaining a tool to once and for all reduce my weight to a healthy level, be active and live a full life. And yes, I'm nervous too. food, has been my "go to " activity when I have been stressed, sad, tired, etc. I have done well over the past 5 months. With this tool, I plan to permanently alter my coping mechanisms to meet my real needs, not just stuff them down with food.< /p>

Just being honest. Praying for health and happiness for each of you!

How's everyone? I'm waiting on a prescription and then will be in my own bed. Agony.

I'm doing ok, pain meds are working but make me itchy. Rumbling in the tummy and very sore but manageable. I've had some unexpected crying, sometimes for no reason.

Overall it's not too bad but then again this is only my first day at home. How about you?

I'm good other than having a cough. It feels like my insides are going to explode out whenever I do. Pain meds really aren't working much, which sucks, but that's how my body is.

I, um, fell out of my chair because I was sitting too far forward. Don't do this. Getting up off the floor was ridiculous.

ISalithe, I hope you were not hurt. It did make me giggle though because that sounds like something I would do, especially on pain meds!

I had a giggle too once I knew I was okay. I was extra sore for a couple hours, but everything seems good now. Falling is super scary now, even that tiny distance.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
