Ok I need reassurance. Very frustrated. Long stall

Recommended Posts

Ok embrace the stall, done It. Been reassuring myself daily for the last, ohhhhh I dunno, 3 weeks? I went on a work trip the 25-28 of last month and gained 2 lbs. I don't know how, I ate right and didn't drink with even though everyone else did. But the worst part is that I haven't lost a single pound since!!! I am only 2.5 months post op! This should be my honeymoon period right? Someone tell me their story or similar experience. I need to hear some good news so I can have some reassurance that I'm not stuck at this weight forever. I know it's ridiculous to think that like but I'm sure everyone has had their discouraging and depressed days throughout this journey and just needed a little reassurance.

P.s when I left for my trip I was 3 lbs from ONEderland. So I fully expected to be under 200 when I came home. I about cried when my scale said 205. I DID cry this morning when my scale, once again said 205.

I'm at 2 months and also have stalled for approximately 2 weeks. Everyone has told me that it's normal. So whT I finally had to do for myself is stop the weighing everyday because I am obsessive with that. But also just had to tell myself that as long as I'm doing everything right it will come. Also I noticed I'm losing inches rather than pounds. Good luck

Everytime I have traveled I gained weight. Didn't matter when I did road trips or flew. Even going to Vegas and walking forever each day. That is how my body works evidently. Takes me another week to get those off and then I can go down a little more until the next stall. I gave up my frustration because I don't need to add additional stress. We can only control what and how we eat and the exercise we chose. The way your body is going to release lbs is not something you can control.

Are you taking measurements? When I'm losing I'm not dropping inches. When I'm stalled the inches are dropping. I've been doing arm and ab exercises a lot this week and my biceps and waist are up slightly from last week but I lost almost 4 inches total everywhere else. My weight loss was sudden today, I was down 3 pounds out of nowhere. I triple checked it to confirm.

I have not been taking measurements, however, my clothing fits the same so I assume I'm not losing inches either. Idk

I wonder what the cause is??? I will have to say no to business trips if that's the case. Lol.

Curious as to how you're going? Did your stall finally break?

I'm 7 weeks post op and I've been stalled for 4 weeks. Everyone keeps telling me it'll start to come off again but I'm beginning to doubt it will. Tell me some good news.

Travel can really mess with you. It can cause Constipation. Or some people don't drink enough Water when they travel. Or all the food you eat is more salty than usual because it's restaurant or packaged food.

If you are sticking to your plan, the scale will move again. I promise you! I know it's frustrating. Hang in there and keep to it and it will happen. You won't be stalled forever.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
